Our Home

Kayal Breeze is our family home on the western edge of Kumbalangi, an island of fishing villages, Chinese nets and Pokkali fields twelve kilometres south of Fort Kochi. The main house was built by George's grandfather in 1934; we opened six rooms to guests in 2016, and added the waterside cottage and the loft in 2022.

George looks after the guests and the boats, Leela runs the kitchen, and Joseph, a neighbour and a fisherman all his life, takes guests out in the canoe each morning.

What to expect

• Eight rooms and one cottage, all with breakfast.
• Home-cooked Kerala food, with fish and crab from the island.
• Quiet: no swimming pool, no television in the rooms, no loud music.
